Our Story: From Silent Kitchens to Culinary Connection
Liam and I, we’re quite the pair in the kitchen. He used to cook with such precision, like a scientist. His food was perfect, but it felt a little lonely. My style? Well, let’s just say I love a good improv! As a kindergarten teacher, my days are full of laughter and surprises. My cooking is a bit like that, too – free-spirited and fun. Together, we started “Child Recipe.” It’s all about bringing that childlike wonder back into cooking for grown-ups. We want to turn your kitchen into a stage for delicious memories.

This blog is our way of sharing that joy. We believe food should tell a story, create connection, and nurture the soul. It’s about rediscovering the fun in making something wonderful with your own two hands. Liam is the artist, and I’m his muse, the one who reminds him to play with his food. We hope our recipes inspire you to do the same.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1.5 cups grated carrots
- 0.5 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 0.5 cup raisins (optional)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 0.33 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For Decoration:
- Black edible marker or small black candies for eyes and mouth
- Pink edible marker or small pink candies for nose
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 12-cup muffin tin, or line with cupcake liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Stir in the grated carrots, chopped nuts, and raisins (if using).
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, vegetable oil, applesauce, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool in the muffin tin for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the milk or cream, beating until the frosting is light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them generously with the cream cheese frosting.
- To decorate, use a black edible marker or small black candies to create bunny eyes and a mouth on each cupcake. Use a pink edible marker or small pink candies for the bunny nose.
Notes
- Ensure your carrots are finely grated for the best texture.
- For a nut-free option, simply omit the nuts.
- You can make the cupcake batter ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- If you don’t have an edible marker, small chocolate chips can be used for the eyes and nose.
