- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup sprinkles (rainbow jimmies)
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Extra sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the sprinkles.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- While the donuts cool, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
- Dip the top of each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off. Immediately top with extra sprinkles.
- Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
- Use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off to easily fill the donut cavities.
- Make sure the donuts are completely cool before glazing, otherwise the glaze will melt.
- Store baked donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
