Description

Enjoy homemade baked funfetti donuts, a healthier and fun treat perfect for kids’ breakfasts or snacks. This recipe is easy to follow and uses simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup sprinkles (rainbow jimmies)
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Extra sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the sprinkles.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the donuts cool, prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
  10. Dip the top of each cooled donut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off. Immediately top with extra sprinkles.
  11. Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes

  • Use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off to easily fill the donut cavities.
  • Make sure the donuts are completely cool before glazing, otherwise the glaze will melt.
  • Store baked donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
