Description

Create romantic Valentine’s Day Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Skewers. This easy dessert is perfect for sharing with your loved one. It’s a sweet treat that brings joy and connection to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and dried
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother melting)
  • Assorted toppings: sprinkles, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Prepare your toppings: Place sprinkles, chopped nuts, or other desired toppings in small bowls.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Place chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using) in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted. Alternatively, melt chocolate in a double boiler.
  3. Assemble the skewers: Thread 3-4 strawberries onto each skewer.
  4. Dip the strawberries: Hold a skewer by the stick and dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the way up. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  5. Add toppings: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle your desired toppings onto the wet chocolate.
  6. Set the skewers: Place the finished skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Chill to set: Refrigerate for at least 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Arrange the skewers on a platter and share the sweetness.

Notes

  • Ensure your strawberries are completely dry before dipping to help the chocolate adhere properly.
  • If you prefer milk chocolate, you can substitute it for semi-sweet or dark chocolate.
  • Get creative with your toppings! White chocolate drizzle or a dusting of cocoa powder are also great options.
  • These skewers are best enjoyed the same day they are made for optimal freshness.
