Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts, drained
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated and washed
- Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it up, until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the turkey. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens and coats the meat well.
- Stir in the water chestnuts and green onions. Cook for 1 minute more until heated through.
- Spoon the turkey mixture into the center of each lettuce cup.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey for a lighter option.
- If you prefer a sweeter flavor, increase the honey slightly.
- Rinse and thoroughly dry your lettuce leaves before using them as wraps.
- This filling reheats well for quick leftovers.
