Description
Make this festive and invigorating peppermint espresso martini. This recipe includes an optional chocolate and peppermint rim for an elegant holiday touch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1 oz Coffee Liqueur (e.g., Kahlua)
- 1 oz Freshly Brewed Espresso, chilled
- 0.5 oz Peppermint Schnapps or Peppermint Syrup
- 0.5 oz Simple Syrup (adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes
- For Rim (Optional): Melted chocolate, Crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Prepare the rim if using: Spread a thin layer of melted chocolate on a small plate. On a second plate, spread crushed candy canes. Dip the rim of your martini glass first into the chocolate, then into the crushed candy canes. Set the glass aside.
- Combine the vodka, coffee liqueur, chilled espresso, peppermint schnapps or syrup, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.
- Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice cubes.
- Seal the shaker tightly and shake hard for 20 to 30 seconds until the shaker is very cold and a good foam forms on top.
- Strain the mixture into your prepared martini glass.
- Garnish with three coffee beans or a small peppermint candy.
Notes
- You must use freshly brewed espresso that has been chilled slightly for the best foam and flavor.
- If you prefer a creamier drink, substitute 0.5 oz of the simple syrup with 0.5 oz of heavy cream or a creamy liqueur like Bailey’s.
- For a chocolate peppermint variation, add 0.5 oz of dark chocolate liqueur to the shaker.
