Description

Start your holiday mornings with joy using these Overnight Gingerbread Oats. This recipe is simple, delicious, and captures the warm, spiced flavor of gingerbread, giving you a healthy, ready-to-eat breakfast straight from the fridge. We made this recipe to bring playful connection back to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 cup Milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup Plain Greek Yogurt (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Ground Cloves
  • Pinch of Ground Nutmeg
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Optional Topping: Chopped pecans or a dollop of yogurt

Instructions

  1. In a jar or container, combine the rolled oats, chia seeds, and all the spices (ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt). Stir well to distribute the spices evenly.
  2. Add the milk, maple syrup, and molasses to the dry ingredients.
  3. Stir everything together until fully combined. Make sure no dry oats are stuck at the bottom.
  4. If you are using yogurt, stir it in now until smooth.
  5. Seal the container and shake it vigorously for about 30 seconds, or stir again after 5 minutes to break up any clumps.
  6. Place the container in the refrigerator and let it sit for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
  7. In the morning, enjoy cold straight from the fridge. Add your favorite toppings before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter oat, increase the maple syrup slightly. Remember, you can always add more sweetness later.
  • If the texture is too thick in the morning, simply stir in an extra splash of milk until you reach your preferred consistency.
  • This recipe is a great base. Feel free to add a scoop of protein powder for an extra boost before refrigeration.
  • We love using almond milk, but any milk you enjoy works perfectly here.
