Description

Make crispy, golden feta rolls using your oven instead of deep frying, finished with a sweet and spicy chili honey drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces feta cheese block, drained
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat it with cooking spray.
  2. Cut the feta block into 12 equal rectangular sticks.
  3. Set up a standard breading station: place flour in one shallow dish, beaten eggs in a second, and a mix of panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and oregano in a third.
  4. Dredge each feta stick first in the flour, shaking off excess.
  5. Dip the floured stick into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  6. Thoroughly coat the stick in the panko mixture, pressing gently so the crumbs adhere well.
  7. Place the coated feta sticks on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they do not touch.
  8. Spray the tops of the rolls generously with cooking spray to aid browning.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the rolls are golden brown and crispy.
  10. While the rolls bake, prepare the chili honey: combine honey, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until just warm and combined. Do not boil.
  11. Remove the rolls from the oven. Let them cool for 2 minutes.
  12. Arrange the hot rolls on a serving plate and immediately drizzle with the chili honey. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, chill the breaded rolls for 15 minutes before baking.
  • Use block feta packed in brine for the best texture; avoid pre-crumbled feta.
  • If you have an air fryer, you can cook these at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping once.
