Description

These Kid-Friendly Tuna Melt Sliders are perfect for busy parents looking for a quick, nutritious, and appealing meal for their children. They are easy to make, use readily available ingredients, and are designed to be a hit with even picky eaters.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna in water, drained well
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a healthier twist)
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced celery (optional, for crunch)
  • 1 tablespoon finely minced red onion or chives (optional, for flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 small dinner rolls or slider buns
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese, halved
  • Butter or olive oil for toasting (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, diced celery (if using), and minced red onion or chives (if using). Mix well.
  2. Season the tuna mixture with a pinch of salt and pepper. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Slice the dinner rolls or slider buns horizontally. You can lightly butter or brush with olive oil the cut sides of the buns if you like a little crispness.
  5. Spoon a generous amount of the tuna mixture onto the bottom half of each slider bun.
  6. Top each tuna portion with a halved slice of cheddar cheese.
  7. Place the top half of the buns over the cheese.
  8. Arrange the assembled sliders on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the buns are lightly toasted.
  10. Carefully remove from the oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • For picky eaters, skip the celery and onion. Leo prefers his tuna salad plain, while Mia loves the crunch of celery.
  • You can use different types of cheese like provolone or American cheese.
  • These sliders are great for lunch, a quick dinner, or even a party appetizer for kids.
  • Prepare the tuna salad ahead of time to save even more time during meal prep.
