Description
A simple and delicious kid-friendly mint chocolate banana smoothie that’s perfect for a quick breakfast or a healthy snack. It’s a great way to sneak in some fruit and greens.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas, frozen
- 1 cup fresh spinach (optional, but highly recommended for extra nutrition!)
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1–2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (start with less and add more to taste)
- 1–2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey (optional, for added sweetness)
- A few ice cubes (if bananas aren’t completely frozen)
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender.
- Blend until completely smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a little more milk. If it’s too thin, add a few more frozen banana slices or ice cubes.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or mint flavor as needed.
- Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a thicker smoothie, use more frozen bananas or add a tablespoon of chia seeds.
- If your kids are hesitant about spinach, start with a small amount; they won’t taste it!
- You can add a scoop of protein powder for an extra boost.
- This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh.
