Description

A simple and delicious kid-friendly mint chocolate banana smoothie that’s perfect for a quick breakfast or a healthy snack. It’s a great way to sneak in some fruit and greens.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, frozen
  • 1 cup fresh spinach (optional, but highly recommended for extra nutrition!)
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 12 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (start with less and add more to taste)
  • 12 teaspoons maple syrup or honey (optional, for added sweetness)
  • A few ice cubes (if bananas aren’t completely frozen)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender.
  2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add a little more milk. If it’s too thin, add a few more frozen banana slices or ice cubes.
  3. Taste and adjust sweetness or mint flavor as needed.
  4. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a thicker smoothie, use more frozen bananas or add a tablespoon of chia seeds.
  • If your kids are hesitant about spinach, start with a small amount; they won’t taste it!
  • You can add a scoop of protein powder for an extra boost.
  • This smoothie is best enjoyed fresh.
