Description

This kid-friendly fruit salsa with cinnamon chips offers a delightful and easy snack or dessert. It features a colorful mix of fresh fruit, enhanced by a surprising ingredient, served with crispy, sweet cinnamon-dusted tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup chopped kiwi
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple
  • 1/2 cup chopped mango
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6–8 small flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, and mango in a medium bowl.
  2. Add lime juice, honey, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon to the fruit. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Cut each tortilla into 8-12 wedges.
  5. Brush both sides of the tortilla wedges with melted butter.
  6. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  7. Arrange tortilla wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet. Sprinkle generously with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  9. Let cinnamon chips cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up further as they cool.
  10. Serve fruit salsa with the cooled cinnamon chips for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of chili powder to the fruit salsa for a sweet and spicy kick.
  • Try adding other fruits like blueberries, raspberries, or peaches based on seasonal availability and your child’s preferences.
  • Make the fruit salsa ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice to prevent browning.
  • Leftover cinnamon chips can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
