Description

Quick and easy whole wheat French toast sticks perfect for busy mornings and little hands. A kid-approved way to make breakfast fun and nutritious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices whole wheat bread (day old is best)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind you use)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Maple syrup, fruit, or other desired toppings

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3 or 4 strips (sticks).
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon (if using) until well combined.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and add a little butter or oil.
  4. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Let any excess drip off.
  5. Place the coated sticks onto the hot pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Repeat with the remaining bread sticks, adding more butter or oil to the pan as needed.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Day-old bread works best as it absorbs the egg mixture without getting too soggy.
  • You can make a larger batch and store leftovers in the refrigerator for a quick reheat later.
  • These are great for dipping! Let your kids choose their favorite dipping sauces like yogurt, applesauce, or a drizzle of honey.
