Description

Easy mini donuts coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for a fun kid-friendly treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your mini donut maker or oven to 350°F (175°C) if using a donut pan. Lightly grease the donut maker or pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Carefully spoon or pipe the batter into the donut maker wells or donut pan, filling each about two-thirds full.
  6. Cook in the donut maker for 3-5 minutes, or bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. While the donuts are cooking, prepare the cinnamon sugar coating. In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Once the donuts are cooked, immediately remove them from the donut maker or pan. While still warm, dip each donut in the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  9. Place the coated donuts on a wire rack to cool slightly.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy! Leo and Mia love helping with the cinnamon sugar coating part!

Notes

  • Make sure not to overmix the batter for tender donuts.
  • Coating the donuts while warm helps the butter and cinnamon sugar stick better.
  • These mini donuts are best enjoyed the same day they are made.
