Ingredients

- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup grated carrots
- 2 tablespoons raisins or chopped dates (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional, for older kids)
Instructions
- In a jar or container, combine the rolled oats, milk, chia seeds, maple syrup (if using), cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Stir well to ensure everything is combined and there are no dry clumps of oats or chia seeds.
- Add the grated carrots and raisins or dates (if using). Stir again.
- If using nuts, add them now and stir gently.
- Seal the jar or container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- In the morning, stir the oats and add a splash more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.
- Serve cold.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness based on your child’s preference.
- You can add other mix-ins like shredded coconut or chopped apple.
- For younger children, you may want to omit the nuts or chop them very finely.
- These oats will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
