Description
Simple and fun Caprese snack skewers, perfect for kids. These skewers combine fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil, making a colorful and healthy snack that’s easy to assemble.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine size)
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for drizzling)
- 1/2 teaspoon balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)
- 12–15 small skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
- Gently wash and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves.
- If your mozzarella balls are too large for one bite, you can cut them in half.
- Carefully thread one cherry tomato onto a skewer, followed by a basil leaf, then a mozzarella ball. Repeat the pattern if your skewers are long enough, ending with a tomato.
- Arrange the finished skewers on a platter.
- If desired, lightly drizzle with olive oil and a touch of balsamic glaze just before serving.
Notes
- For younger children, you can cut the cherry tomatoes in half to prevent choking hazards.
- If your child is sensitive to textures, you can tear the basil leaves into smaller pieces.
- These skewers are best served fresh.
- They make a great addition to lunchboxes or as an after-school snack.
