These Kid-Friendly Caprese Skewers are a quick and easy snack or appetizer, perfect for little hands. They combine fresh mozzarella balls, sweet cherry tomatoes, and fragrant basil leaves on a skewer, offering a burst of flavor and color that kids love.

- 1 pint (about 2 cups) cherry or grape tomatoes
- 8 ounces small fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine or bocconcini), drained
- 20–30 fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze (optional, for dipping or drizzling)
- 20–30 small skewers or toothpicks
Instructions
- Gently wash and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves.
- Drain the fresh mozzarella balls thoroughly.
- Carefully thread one cherry tomato onto a skewer.
- Next, add a fresh basil leaf, folding it if it’s too large.
- Follow with one mozzarella ball.
- Repeat the pattern: another basil leaf, then another cherry tomato.
- Continue until your skewer has a tomato, basil, mozzarella, basil, tomato pattern, or simply fill it with your desired amount.
- Arrange the finished skewers on a platter.
- If desired, lightly drizzle with olive oil or serve with a side of balsamic glaze for dipping.
- Serve immediately or chill until ready to enjoy.
Notes
- For younger toddlers, you can cut the cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls in half to prevent choking hazards.
- If your child is not a fan of basil, you can omit it or offer it on the side.
- These skewers are also great for lunchboxes or as a colorful addition to a party spread.
