Description

These Kid-Friendly Caprese Skewers are a quick and easy snack or appetizer, perfect for little hands. They combine fresh mozzarella balls, sweet cherry tomatoes, and fragrant basil leaves on a skewer, offering a burst of flavor and color that kids love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint (about 2 cups) cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 8 ounces small fresh mozzarella balls (ciliegine or bocconcini), drained
  • 2030 fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic glaze (optional, for dipping or drizzling)
  • 2030 small skewers or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Gently wash and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves.
  2. Drain the fresh mozzarella balls thoroughly.
  3. Carefully thread one cherry tomato onto a skewer.
  4. Next, add a fresh basil leaf, folding it if it’s too large.
  5. Follow with one mozzarella ball.
  6. Repeat the pattern: another basil leaf, then another cherry tomato.
  7. Continue until your skewer has a tomato, basil, mozzarella, basil, tomato pattern, or simply fill it with your desired amount.
  8. Arrange the finished skewers on a platter.
  9. If desired, lightly drizzle with olive oil or serve with a side of balsamic glaze for dipping.
  10. Serve immediately or chill until ready to enjoy.

Notes

  • For younger toddlers, you can cut the cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls in half to prevent choking hazards.
  • If your child is not a fan of basil, you can omit it or offer it on the side.
  • These skewers are also great for lunchboxes or as a colorful addition to a party spread.
  • Get your kids involved in assembling the skewers – it’s a fun activity and encourages them to try new foods!
