Description

These Kid-Friendly Apple Crumble Dessert Cups are a simple and delicious treat perfect for busy parents. They combine tender apples with a sweet, crunchy topping in individual portions, making them ideal for little hands.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (like Fuji or Gala), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin or 6 ramekins.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes, or until apples are tender-crisp.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, 1/4 cup cold butter pieces, granulated sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Divide the cooked apple mixture evenly among the prepared muffin cups or ramekins.
  5. Sprinkle the oat crumble topping generously over the apples in each cup.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. These are delicious warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra sweetness, serve with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of whipped cream.
  • You can prepare the apple mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • If your kids prefer a smoother apple texture, you can mash the cooked apples slightly before adding the topping.
  • Leo loves these with a sprinkle of walnuts on top for extra crunch, but Mia prefers them plain. Adjust for your own little eaters!
