Description
Easy and kid-friendly fish sticks made in the air fryer, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia), cut into 1-inch strips
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Pat the fish strips dry with paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, and pepper.
- In another shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese (if using).
- In a third shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Dredge each fish strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip the floured fish strip into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off.
- Coat the fish strip in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Place the coated fish sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch. You may need to work in batches.
- Lightly spray the fish sticks with cooking spray.
- Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve immediately with your kids’ favorite dipping sauces.
Notes
- For extra crispy fish sticks, double coat them in the egg and breadcrumb mixtures.
- You can use frozen fish fillets, just make sure they are fully thawed and patted dry before coating.
- Adjust the cooking time based on the thickness of your fish strips and your air fryer model.
- These are great served with sweet potato fries or steamed broccoli.
