Description

Make a rich, low-carb shrimp dish quickly in one skillet using heavy cream and garlic for a savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  4. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink and just cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Pour the chicken broth into the skillet and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom. Let the broth reduce slightly for about 1 minute.
  6. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream. Let the sauce simmer gently for 2 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly.
  7. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Taste and add more salt or pepper if needed.
  8. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the shrimp completely in the creamy garlic sauce.
  9. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, simmer the heavy cream mixture for an extra minute or two before adding the Parmesan.
  • You can substitute half the heavy cream with 2 ounces of softened cream cheese for an even richer texture.
  • Ensure you do not overcook the shrimp; they cook very fast in the hot sauce.
