Description

Make a flavorful, sliceable Italian herb and cheese bread right in your bread machine. This recipe is perfect for beginners and yields a wonderful loaf for sandwiches or dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning blend
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Add the warm water and olive oil to the bread machine pan in the order specified by your machine’s manual.
  2. Add the bread flour, sugar, salt, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder on top of the liquids. Create a small well in the center of the flour.
  3. Place the yeast into the well you created. Do not let the yeast touch the salt or liquid yet.
  4. Select the Basic White Bread cycle and the Medium crust setting on your bread machine. Start the cycle.
  5. Wait for the machine to complete the initial mixing phase (usually about 10-15 minutes).
  6. When the machine pauses for the first add-in (check your manual for the exact time or listen for the beep), open the lid.
  7. Quickly and evenly sprinkle the Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese over the dough. Close the lid immediately.
  8. Allow the bread machine to complete the entire cycle.
  9. Once the cycle is finished, carefully remove the bread pan and turn the loaf out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour for this sandwich loaf.
  • If your machine has a delayed start, do not use it for this recipe, as the cheese and herbs can affect the yeast activation.
  • This cheesy dinner bread slices beautifully once fully cooled, making it great for dipping or sandwiches.
  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
