Description

Create a delightful surprise inside holiday dessert: Hot Cocoa Brownie Cups. These treats combine rich, fudgy brownies with a hidden warm center, perfect for sharing joy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup hot brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup marshmallow creme (for surprise center)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Carefully stir in the hot coffee until the batter is smooth. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the milk chocolate chips.
  7. Fill each muffin liner about two-thirds full with brownie batter.
  8. Place about one teaspoon of marshmallow creme into the center of the batter in each cup. Gently push it down slightly.
  9. Top with a small spoonful of remaining batter, covering the marshmallow almost completely.
  10. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  11. Let the brownie cups cool completely in the tin before serving. Enjoy the surprise center!

Notes

  • For an extra warm touch, you can lightly dust the cooled cups with powdered sugar before serving.
  • Feel free to let your inner child play with the ingredients; a pinch more salt or a splash more vanilla adds character.
  • These are best enjoyed the day they are made for the softest texture.
