Description

Create fun, festive Elf Hat Jalapeño Poppers perfect for holiday gatherings. These spicy appetizers bring a whimsical touch to your snack table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeños
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 small strips of red bell pepper (for the hat brim)
  • 12 small pieces of cream cheese or pimento (for the pom-pom)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the jalapeños in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the seeds and white membranes. Wear gloves if you have sensitive skin.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onion, garlic powder, and salt until well combined. This is your filling.
  4. Spoon or pipe the cheese mixture evenly into each jalapeño half. Do not overfill.
  5. Place a thin strip of red bell pepper at the wide, open end of each stuffed half to form the brim of the elf hat.
  6. Place the filled jalapeños on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven. While still warm, gently press a small piece of cream cheese or pimento onto the pointed tip of each popper to create the hat’s pom-pom.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy the festive fun.

Notes

  • Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid skin irritation.
  • For a crispier result, you can wrap the filled halves in half a slice of bacon before baking.
  • If you prefer less heat, make sure you remove all the white membrane and seeds from the peppers.
