Description
Enjoy this easy, comforting stovetop apple cinnamon oatmeal, perfect for a cozy fall or winter morning. Liam designed this recipe to bring joy and connection to your breakfast routine.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups water or milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon butter or coconut oil (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the oats, water or milk, diced apple, cinnamon, and salt in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and the apples are tender. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the maple syrup and butter or coconut oil, if using.
- Let the oatmeal sit for 1 minute to thicken slightly.
- Serve immediately. You can top it with extra cinnamon or chopped pecans for added texture.
Notes
- For a quicker cook time, use quick oats instead of rolled oats, reducing simmer time to about 2 minutes.
- If you prefer a thicker oatmeal, use less liquid, such as 1 3/4 cups instead of 2 cups.
- This recipe is easily doubled if you are cooking for more people.
