Description

Enjoy this easy, comforting stovetop apple cinnamon oatmeal, perfect for a cozy fall or winter morning. Liam designed this recipe to bring joy and connection to your breakfast routine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups water or milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or coconut oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats, water or milk, diced apple, cinnamon, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and the apples are tender. Stir frequently to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the maple syrup and butter or coconut oil, if using.
  5. Let the oatmeal sit for 1 minute to thicken slightly.
  6. Serve immediately. You can top it with extra cinnamon or chopped pecans for added texture.

Notes

  • For a quicker cook time, use quick oats instead of rolled oats, reducing simmer time to about 2 minutes.
  • If you prefer a thicker oatmeal, use less liquid, such as 1 3/4 cups instead of 2 cups.
  • This recipe is easily doubled if you are cooking for more people.
