Description
Make this creamy, flavorful peanut sauce in just five minutes using common pantry staples. It is perfect for tossing with noodles or using as a dipping sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the peanut butter, warm water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and sesame oil in a medium bowl.
- Add the minced garlic and ground ginger, if you are using them.
- Whisk all ingredients together vigorously until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add water, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings; add more soy sauce for saltiness or more maple syrup for sweetness.
- Pour the sauce over cooked noodles or use it immediately as a dip for spring rolls or vegetables.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, add 1/2 teaspoon of sriracha or chili garlic sauce during mixing.
- If you use natural, unsweetened peanut butter, you may need to increase the sweetener slightly.
- This sauce thickens as it cools; thin it with a splash of hot water before serving if necessary.
