Description

Make this easy Dorito Casserole for a comforting, cheesy, and satisfying family meal. It is a quick dinner idea perfect for weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 (10 ounce) bag Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos, lightly crushed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup salsa

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef and onion in a large skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. In the same skillet, stir in the cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, and milk. Heat the mixture until it is warm and well combined.
  4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Gently fold in half of the crushed Doritos and half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the beef mixture.
  5. Spread half of the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Top this layer with half of the salsa.
  6. Spread the remaining beef mixture over the salsa layer. Top with the remaining salsa.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Doritos and the remaining shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top layer.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are lightly browned.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the cream of chicken soup with cream of cheddar soup.
  • You can use any flavor of Doritos you prefer, but Nacho Cheese is the classic choice for this Tex Mex Casserole.
  • If you want a spicier kick, add a can of diced green chilies to the beef mixture.
  • This recipe freezes well; assemble it completely, cover tightly, and freeze before baking. Thaw overnight and add 10-15 minutes to the baking time.
