Description
Create stunning Cucumber Salmon Tree Bites, the perfect, festive appetizer for your next holiday gathering. These bites bring fresh flavor and a beautiful presentation to your table.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large cucumber
- 8 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Pinch of black pepper
- Optional garnish: Capers, extra dill sprigs, or finely chopped chives
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the cucumber.
- Slice the cucumber into rounds about 1/4 inch thick. You should get about 20-24 slices.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and black pepper until smooth and well combined. This is your spread.
- Place the cream cheese spread into a piping bag fitted with a star tip, or use a small spoon for a rustic look.
- Arrange the cucumber slices on a serving platter.
- Pipe or spoon a dollop of the cream cheese mixture onto each cucumber slice.
- Take a small piece of smoked salmon and gently fold or roll it, placing it on top of the cream cheese dollop to resemble a small festive rosette or bow.
- Garnish each bite with a caper, a tiny sprig of dill, or a sprinkle of chives, if desired.
- Chill the Cucumber Salmon Tree Bites for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow them to set.
Notes
- Use English cucumbers for fewer seeds and thinner skin.
- If you prefer not to use a piping bag, simply use two small spoons to shape the cream cheese.
- Make the cream cheese spread up to a day ahead and store it covered in the refrigerator.
- These are best assembled the day you plan to serve them for the freshest crunch.
