Description

Make incredibly tender, juicy steak bites with minimal effort using your slow cooker. This easy crockpot steak recipe features a rich garlic butter sauce perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes (steak bites)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed steak into your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder evenly over the steak pieces. Toss gently to coat everything.
  3. Pour the beef broth over the seasoned steak.
  4. Place the pieces of butter evenly over the top of the steak. Do not stir.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 2.5 hours, until the steak is fork-tender. Avoid overcooking to keep the steak juicy.
  6. About 15 minutes before serving, stir in the minced garlic. Let it cook uncovered briefly to allow the liquid to reduce slightly, if desired.
  7. Taste the sauce and add more salt or pepper if needed.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For the best results and guaranteed tenderness, use sirloin or chuck steak cut into uniform 1-inch pieces.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the steak halfway through cooking and mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water, then stir this slurry into the liquid in the slow cooker before returning the steak.
  • This recipe works well for a complete meal if you add 1 pound of small red potatoes and 1 cup of sliced carrots during the first hour of cooking.
