Description

A classic Italian dessert, Tiramisu is a delightful layered treat. It features coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a rich mascarpone cream, dusted with cocoa powder. This recipe brings a touch of Italian elegance to your table, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250g mascarpone cheese
  • 3 large eggs, separated
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 200ml strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks with half of the sugar until pale and creamy.
  2. Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and whisk until smooth and well combined.
  3. In a separate, clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the remaining sugar and continue whisking until glossy.
  4. Gently fold the whisked egg whites into the mascarpone mixture until just combined, being careful not to deflate the egg whites.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they are moistened but not soggy.
  6. Arrange a layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone cream.
  9. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  10. Before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder.

Notes

  • Ensure your eggs are fresh.
  • Do not over-soak the ladyfingers, as they can become too soft.
  • Chilling time is crucial for the best texture and flavor.
