Description

Make this Cherry Dump Cake for a warm, bubbly dessert that tastes like a cobbler but requires zero mixing. It is a simple, crowd-pleaser recipe perfect for potlucks or weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional for variation)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the cake mix layer.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface of the dry cake mix. You want to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let the Easy Dump Cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with white or butter cake mix.
  • This recipe works well with other fruit fillings like apple or blueberry for a Quick Fruit Dessert variation.
  • Serve this Warm Bubbly Dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
