Description

This Blood Orange Thyme Mocktail is a sophisticated and refreshing non-alcoholic drink perfect for any occasion. It combines the vibrant, slightly tart flavor of blood oranges with the aromatic, herbaceous notes of fresh thyme for a truly delightful sipping experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blood orange juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1012 fresh thyme sprigs
  • Sparkling water or club soda, to top
  • Ice cubes
  • Blood orange slices and fresh thyme sprigs, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup of sugar. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves to make simple syrup. Let it cool completely.
  2. In a pitcher, gently muddle 6-8 thyme sprigs to release their oils.
  3. Add the blood orange juice, lemon juice, and cooled simple syrup to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
  4. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes.
  6. Strain the blood orange mixture into the glasses, filling them about two-thirds full.
  7. Top each glass with sparkling water or club soda.
  8. Garnish with fresh blood orange slices and a sprig of thyme.

Notes

  • For a less sweet mocktail, reduce the amount of simple syrup or omit it entirely.
  • If you don’t have blood oranges, you can substitute with regular oranges, but the color and flavor will be different.
  • You can prepare the blood orange and thyme mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
