Description
This Blood Orange Thyme Mocktail is a sophisticated and refreshing non-alcoholic drink perfect for any occasion. It combines the vibrant, slightly tart flavor of blood oranges with the aromatic, herbaceous notes of fresh thyme for a truly delightful sipping experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh blood orange juice
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 10–12 fresh thyme sprigs
- Sparkling water or club soda, to top
- Ice cubes
- Blood orange slices and fresh thyme sprigs, for garnish
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup of sugar. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves to make simple syrup. Let it cool completely.
- In a pitcher, gently muddle 6-8 thyme sprigs to release their oils.
- Add the blood orange juice, lemon juice, and cooled simple syrup to the pitcher. Stir well to combine.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Strain the blood orange mixture into the glasses, filling them about two-thirds full.
- Top each glass with sparkling water or club soda.
- Garnish with fresh blood orange slices and a sprig of thyme.
Notes
- For a less sweet mocktail, reduce the amount of simple syrup or omit it entirely.
- If you don’t have blood oranges, you can substitute with regular oranges, but the color and flavor will be different.
- You can prepare the blood orange and thyme mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
